hhBest – Sinds 1996

Een mooie, internationale, in aanleg Engelstalige website over alle denkbare aspecten van het Sint-Nicolaasfeest is St. Nicholas Center. Ze bestaat al tien jaar (stuurt ons telkens in oktober een bericht over updates) en wordt ook elk jaar mooier en uitgebreider, zonder te ontaarden in een oerwoud, waarin je door de bomen het bos niet meer zou zien. In het vervolg van dit bericht uitvoerige info met links over de update van oktober 2013.

Heel veel plaatjes, die je mag gebruiken, verhalen over de tradities in de verschillend landen, waaronder natuurlijk ook Nederland en België, een aparte sectie voor kinderen met online-spelletjes. Zwarte Pieten zijn er trouwens nauwelijks te zien.

De site heeft ook een religieuze ingang, maar is nergens opdringerig. Je kunt de teksten door Google laten vertalen, maar of dat goed voor je Nederlands is…?Enfin, kijk zelf maar op stnicholascenter.org. Zou je bij een volgend bezoek aan hhBest dit stukje niet meer zien: Sinterklaas is op deze site een rubriek (links in het menu).

St. Nicholas Day is coming!

Here is www.stnicholascenter.org’s annual update. This is the place for free resources to celebrate St. Nicholas at home, church or school—EVERYTHING to celebrate St. Nicholas.

To find our new and updated pages and lists—use the New Search feature, found at the top right of nearly every page. There are 85 new and 34 updated articles throughout the site. Here are just a few of my favorites:
•  Really cute candy bar wrappers to print—they fit 3 sizes of candy bars!
•  Special paper bag puppet courtesy of Catholic Icing
•  Make St. Nicholas chocolate coins with stickers (easier than cutting circles)
•  Cookie recipes for painted St. Nicholas cookies & chocolate initial cookies
•  New section with Church Year Resources for families—we’ve been asked to share what we did in our family. This is a work in progress as time allows, but the basics are there for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.

Are you a St. Nicholas? If so, please join our new St. Nicholas Directory to make it easier for people to find you. Or, if you know someone who portrays St. Nicholas, please encourage him to join the directory. Any limitations on types of visits and locations will be included. We need MANY St. Nicholases for this to work! Thank you for your help.
